Peak District

Yesterday me and Letitia went to the peak district, it was a tad spontaneous as there was no real planning involved, it consisted of a sat nav and my car, a few cameras and that was about it.
We typed in a random post code in a green part of the map and set off, we ended up in Sheffield where we stopped for picnic supply's, then drove till buildings dissappeared and we were in the peak district. We drove for about half an hour till i found a random very narrow gated lane to go down, where we parked in a gateway and just started walking! it was really fun just taking some photos with no pressure of trying to complete a project, as i feel the images i took yesterday have no real relevance to this project!

This is the first image I took with a SLR, my school was given some money and created a darkroom and brought some cameras, as one of only two students who took any interest in I was given a SLR to use, until I left school 3 years later, I took it on holiday and this was one of the first images I was really proud of.

I haven’t really been able to post as much as I planned this week, it has been oddly busy. I came home to Birmingham yesterday night so I could go to the focus in imaging show at the NEC, today which was quite interesting, there where lots of talks on the different stands some of them I found quite amusing. There was one photographer who kept calling his model darling, when he was demonstrating ring flash, which she really didn’t look at all happy about, so if anything I have learnt today, being condescending doesn’t get you anywhere in photography J. Listing to all these ‘professional’ photographers made me realised that I actually do know what I am doing most of the time as what they was telling me I already knew, so I think I need to be more confident with me photography and stop ‘playing it safe’.

The first image i posted yesterday was by Jan Saudek. I discovered Saudek's work whilst traveling in europe in 2006, my friends and i stubbled upon a are gallery in Prague, we went in manly because it was air-conditioned and gave us something to do before are next train. I really liked his images they were so different to the images i had been exposed to a art A level. I liked the grittiness of the images and they way he photographer his models made me look at my work differently. I brought a post card of his work (the image shown above 'pimp and hooker') and sent ti home to myself so i could keep a note of his name and some of his images. Im sure my mom was a little shocked when that image landed on her door mat, but when she read the back she understood.

Francesca Woodman is a photographer a really admire i really like her work i think her images are so beautiful, I like her use of 

mirrors and blurring in the image i have added above, her work similar to Jan Sudek also changed my view on photography, where before my mind was set that a good image is perfectly focused, and pictures, she showed me that this don't have to be the case, u can make really beautiful expressive images using blur. 

These are some of the images from my FMP from my foundation where Francesca Woodman a big influence.

 

Ok so this blog was a struggle the pictures don't go where i want them to! grrr very anoying took me ages! 

anyway I am off to do some washing as i have nothing to wear i have been putting if off for way to long! xx

Day one

Ok so thinking of five images is quite hard, i can think of loads, but then its hard to say why i am inspired by them, i am not a big writer as you will will notice during this project. I have a lot are thoughts running around my head but they rarely make it in to text. (I regally have conversations with my self like JD on scrubs.) :)
